Homeless campaign begins in Listowel Saturday

A campaign and fundraiser at the Listowel Library this weekend will help raise awareness and funds for the homeless.

Andrea Charest of Perth County's "It Takes A Village" says their Listowel office supports community members living outside, by giving them some gear to help weather the cold.

Charest will join a Listowel OPP officer and resident as they camp outside from 8:00 a.m. Saturday to 8:00 a.m. Sunday.

"Manny Coelho and myself will be sleeping outside with the equipment that we would give someone that came into our organization. So if we have a tent, one of us will have a tent. If we don't have a tent, we're sleeping out, without a tent.  Its about sharing awareness about what people actually experience when they are living outside," she said.

They hope their "This is Home" campaign will raise $2,400.
