Police remind people to stay back from ice as Coast Guard icebreaker moves through the area

The Grey-Bruce OPP are reminding everyone to stay well back of the ice in the Owen Sound Harbour and along the Georgian Bay shoreline today, as a Canadian Coast Guard icebreaker moves through.

Police say in a release this morning that they will be patrolling the shorelines due to the icebreaking operations that will be occurring today. Police are asking all recreational users of the shorelines, like pedestrians, fishers, snowmobilers, and ATV operators, to stay clear of the shoreline and ice today to ensure their safety while icebreaking operations are conducted.

The Grey-Bruce OPP is reminding everyone to always be cautious along shorelines when there is ice buildup, especially during the next week with milder temperatures being called for.
