COVID-19 outbreak declared at Grey Bruce Health Services

The Grey Bruce Health Unit is working to address four confirmed cases of COVID-19 associated with patients at Grey Bruce Health Services in Owen Sound.

The outbreak is contained to one floor at this time, with public health measures in place to mitigate spread including lockdown and visitor restrictions. The Health Unit said there is no additional risk to the public.

Public Health will be reaching out to those they find to be close contacts. Anyone not contacted by Public Health is not considered at risk and doesn't need to take any additional steps including asymptomatic testing.

The Grey Bruce Health Unit will direct staff and patients in the hospital to test as required. Those considered at risk outside of the work environment will be directed to testing at a local assessment centre.

The outbreak at Grey Bruce Health Services is currently the only active outbreak of COVID-19 in Grey Bruce. This is the first outbreak at Grey Bruce Health Services in Owen Sound since the pandemic began.
