COVID-19 statistics to be updated Monday

The Grey Bruce Health Unit reported nine newly confirmed cases of COVID-19 Sunday as well as two cases that were referred to Peel Region Public Health.

The new cases include three in Huron-Kinloss; two in the Town of the Blue Mountains; and one each in Owen Sound, Southgate, Chatsworth, and Arran-Elderslie.

There are 66 active cases.

Of the 858 total confirmed cases in the two counties since the beginning of the pandemic, 53 recent ones have been variants of concern.

There are two residents in hospital and public health is following up with 479 high risk contacts.

On Saturday, Huron Perth Public Health reported four new cases of the novel coronavirus. The cases are from four different municipalities in the two counties: Bluewater, South Huron, North Perth, and West Perth.

An update is expected later Monday morning.

Wellington-Dufferin-Guelph did not post an update over the long weekend and one is expected later Monday morning.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
