Attempted murder charges laid in Tobermory shooting

A drive-by shooting in Tobermory led to a 39-year-old man being charged with attempted murder.

Grey Bruce OPP were called to a "firearm incident" on Head Street around 1:30 a.m., March 31st.

Witnesses say a vehicle drove past a home a fired several bullets at it. One witness followed the suspect and as they got close, more shots were fired at the victim's vehicle.

No one was hurt and the police found the accused's vehicle later that day.

David Hillyer of Northern Bruce Peninsula is charged with two counts of attempting to commit murder with a firearm, discharging a firearm into a place in a reckless manner, uttering threats, and possession of cocaine and methamphetamine.

He was held for a bail hearing in Owen Sound on Thursday, April 1st.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
