Four people charged by Saugeen Shores Police for violating stay-at-home order

Four people are facing charges under the Emergency Management and Civil Protection Act after police investigating a case of shoplifting in Southampton discover the suspects are from outside the area.

Police were called a convenience store yesterday and found three people that matched the description provided by witnesses.

Police determined the three were from Georgetown and ultimately charged a fourth person.

They are all charged with failing to comply with an order made during a declared emergency.

Police say they will continue to educate people on the rules but as COVID-19 case numbers rise, they will be issuing fines.

The stay-at-home order is in effect until May 6th.
