County looking for public input regarding official plan

Bruce County is accepting public input that will help determine the official plan.

Residents can submit input for the Plan the Bruce project, which is a land use project that will help inform the new county official plan. According to a release from Bruce County, the goal of the Plan the Bruce: Good Growth project is "to inform policy in the Bruce County Official Plan to accommodate growth population and employment forecasts." The release says that estimates have the region's population hitting 86,000 by 2046, and employment is expected to increase by nearly 11,000 in that time. Housing is also expected to jump by 8,600 permanent households by 2046, as well, so a good plan for growth is required.

“Community input will help Bruce County plan to support the right kind of growth, and development, in the right places, while sustaining our quality of life in the long term,” says Mark Paoli, Bruce County’s Director of Planning and Development.
