Fire in Listowel destroys modular home

Perth County OPP are accusing a North Perth resident of assaulting two fire fighters responding to a fire at The Village in Listowel.

North Perth fire fighters from the Listowel, Atwood, and Monkton stations were called to the scene around 8:30 p.m. Monday night to find one home fully engulfed.

Two other homes were damaged and one person was taken to hospital with minor injuries.

Police say when fire crews arrived, a person assaulted two of them. A 50-year-old is now charged with assault.

The cause of the fire is under investigation. Police remain on scene and are asking the public to avoid the area.

The Office of the Ontario Fire Marshal is assisting with the investigation.
