Fire in Listowel destroys modular home

Perth County OPP are accusing a North Perth resident of assaulting two fire fighters responding to a fire at The Village in Listowel.

North Perth fire fighters from the Listowel, Atwood, and Monkton stations were called to the scene around 8:30 p.m. Monday night to find one home fully engulfed.

Two other homes were damaged and one person was taken to hospital with minor injuries.

Police say when fire crews arrived, a person assaulted two of them. A 50-year-old is now charged with assault.

The cause of the fire is under investigation. Police remain on scene and are asking the public to avoid the area.

The Office of the Ontario Fire Marshal is assisting with the investigation.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
