Police search for hit and run suspect near Elora

A person cutting their grass was seriously injured following a hit and run south of Elora on Friday.

According to Wellington County provincial police, the driver of a white SUV was heading southbound on Second Line at around 10 a.m. when it collided with a person on a riding lawnmower.

Emergency crews arrived, and the victim was taken to a trauma centre by an Ornge air ambulance.

Investigators say the driver of the SUV was not on the scene when crews arrived, and they believe the suspect fled the area on foot.

The OPP Canine Unit and Emergency Response Team searched the area however, the driver was not located.

Police continue to investigate the collision.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
