Some new active COVID cases in Grey, Bruce close contacts to previous cases

The number of newly confirmed cases of COVID-19 are falling in Grey and Bruce.

On Sunday, the Grey Bruce Health Unit identified three new cases, two in Georgian Bluffs and one in Brockton.

In a release, the health unit says half of the new cases are close contacts of previous cases that were already in isolation so there is little risk of secondary transmission. They also thanked those new cases for being honest about their contacts.

There are now 56 active cases in the two counties including 32 variants of concern. There are three cases from Grey and Bruce in hospital and local hospitals are also caring for seven COVID patients transferred from other jurisdictions.

Both Huron Perth Public Health and Wellington Dufferin Public Health will be providing updates later Monday morning on their respective pages.

As of April 30, there 33 active cases in Huron and Perth and 103 active cases in Wellington County.
