Found remains near Mount Forest have been identified as missing male

Wellington County OPP has now identified human remains located in Wellington North Township.

On May 4, 2021, shortly after 6:30 p.m., officers responded to a location, just south of Mount Forest, where an individual had reported finding remains in a wooded rural area.

Investigators have confirmed that the found remains are that of a missing person, 30-year-old Levi Edward Larter, who was last seen on November 8, 2020.

The ongoing investigation is being conducted by the Wellington County OPP Crime Unit and Forensic Identification Services (FIS), under the direction of the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch (CIB), in partnership with the Office of the Chief Coroner for Ontario (OCCO).

Investigators believe this to be an isolated incident and there is no threat to public safety.
