Black bear spotted in Owen Sound

Owen Sound Police Service is investigating a black bear sighting in a west side neighbourhood near them escarpment.

The incident happened at about 6:30am Monday, and police say the bear was not acting in an aggressive manner and was last seen wandering into the nearby brush.

People are reminded that it is not uncommon to have bear sightings within the city of Owen Sound.

Police say if you spot a bear do not approach it, do not feed them, and keep your pets inside if a bear is nearby.

If a black bear poses an immediate threat call 911 and police will respond.
