Childcare addition coming to Egremont Community School

A new childcare addition is coming to a local school.

Bruce-Grey-Owen Sound MPP Bill Walker announced via Zoom this morning that the Minister of Education, Stephen Lecce, has given Bluewater District School Board approval to tender a childcare centre addition to the Egremont Community School in Holstein.

"The 2,9 million dollar investment will add a new quality learning environment for the children of Holstein and the surrounding area. The addition will also add on an EarlyON Child and Family Centre to the school."

Walker says the new addition includes a number of highlights.

"Highlights of this investment include 39 new licensed childcare spaces, 2 new childcare rooms and 2 new EarlyON Child and Family Centre rooms."

In addition to the Egremont Community School announcement, Walker provided an update on the previously announced Spruce Ridge Community School childcare project.

"This week I received confirmation from Minister Lecce that he has approved the tender for the Spruce Ridge project, and it includes an additional $619,054 in funding for the construction. This is terrific news and we'll be releasing more details about that approved tender in the coming days."

Walker adds that these new childcare additions to local schools are a huge boost for families in the area.
