ABCA offering Student Environmental Award scholarship

The Ausable Bayfield Conservation Foundation is offering a $1,000 Student Environmental Award scholarship this year.

ABCA Communications Specialist, Tim Cumming says the award had been presented for ten straight years, but couldn't be awarded last year because of the pandemic, so the Foundation is very happy to be able to present it again this year. Cumming explains, one person wins the award every year.

"A single student wins this award every year, so it's one person who applies and does a little essay and they select a winner and the winner gets a thousand dollars towards their studies in a field related to conservation. They should also demonstrate that they have helped in some way in some conservation-related activity, so that's part of that essay they do to show what they've been involved with."

The deadline for applications is June 28th and eligible students must be between the ages of 17 and 25 and have a permanent address in a municipality in the Ausable Bayfield Conservation Authority watershed. More information as well as application forms can be found on the Ausable Bayfield Conservation Authority web site.
