Police identify man in fatal crash near Elora

Wellington OPP are identifying the victim of a fatal head-on collision near Elora as a 25-year-old from Kitchener.

In a release, police say a coupe was westbound on Wellington Road 21 near Eighth Line around 9:50 p.m. on Sunday when it collided with an eastbound SUV.

A passengers in the coupe, Brian Araujo was pronounced dead at the scene. Two other people in the car were rushed to hospital with serious injuries.

Both drivers suffered minor injuries.

Twenty-four-year-old Ricardo Francisco Cruz Abrego is charged with dangerous driving causing death, two counts of dangerous driving causing bodily harm, and driving while under suspension.

He is due in court at the end of the month to answer to the charges which have yet to be proven in court.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
