Grey Highlands resident charged in connection with fatal collision

Grey Bruce OPP have charged an 83-year-old motorist with careless driving following a fatal collision on Highway 6-10 near Chatsworth.

On July 23, 2021, at approximately 11:30 a.m., Grey Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Grey County Emergency Medical Services (EMS), and the Inter Township Fire Department responded to a motor vehicle collision involving two vehicles on in the Municipality of Meaford.

A driver, identified as 55-year-old Craig Heatley of Bradford West Gwillimbury, was transported to hospital where he was pronounced deceased.

A passenger of the vehicle was also transported to hospital, with serious non-life threatening injuries.

On August 6, 2021, Grey Bruce OPP charged 83-year-old Nina Nodwell, of the Municipality of Grey Highlands with Careless driving causing death and Careless driving causing bodily harm

Grey Bruce OPP and the OPP West Region Traffic Incident Management and Enforcement Team (TIME) continue to investigate this matter.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
