Schedule and operational changes coming to local landfills

West Grey Council has announced a new five day schedule and some operational changes for their landfill sites.

Effective September 1st, new schedules will be implemented at the three landfill sites.

Bentinck Landfill will operate Wednesdays and Saturdays, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., the Durham Landfill will be open Thursdays and Fridays 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. for household waste only and the Normanby Landfill will be open Sundays 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., also for household waste only.

Tipping fees will also change on September 1st. The Bentinck and Durham scale fees will be a minimum $10, while Normanby will be $10 for up to four bags and $2.50 per additional bag.

There is no charge for clean recycling at all sites. Bag tags remain at $2 each and are only required for curb-side pick-up.

New services will include plastic film and Styrofoam recycling.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
