West Grey completes clean up after major rain event

A storm cell that brought over 65 mm of rain to Durham over the weekend required extensive clean up.

A media release from West Grey says roads and public works crews have completed all urgent clean up following the major rain event on Saturday, August 7, between 7:30 and 9:30 p.m.

The rain caused excessive runoff and roadway flooding. Several basements were flooded and roads were closed over the course of the early evening weather event.

The municipality reports no damage to municipal infrastructure or buildings. One rural road that sustained major erosion damage has been repaired. There are some roads that sustained minor erosion damage and they are expected to be repaired by the end of the week.
