Wellington North resident calls for family fireworks bylaw

Wellington North Council will hear from a concerned citizen who would like to see a bylaw banning or limiting home fireworks. Doris Cassan requested a deputation to speak at the August 23rd council meeting.

She wants to see fireworks only allowed on one night of a weekend with a statutory holiday, with a provision for a rain date. She says Arthur citizens are experiencing noisy home fireworks set off around the community, with instances occurring on most weekends.

She says fireworks disturb the peace and disturb pets. Cassan also wants the municipality to encourage alternatives to traditional fireworks that are less noisy and better for the environment.
