Owen Sound hit-and-run under investigation

One person has been taken to hospital following a hit-and-run collision in Owen Sound.

The Owen Sound Police Service said an eastbound car struck a pedestrian who was crossing the street at the intersection of 10th Street East and 2nd Avenue East on Saturday at around 10:30 a.m. The collision forced the pedestrian onto the hood of the car before they fell to the ground.

The pedestrian suffered minor injuries and was taken to hospital by ambulance.

The driver did not stop and the vehicle was last seen travelling east on 10th Street East.  The vehicle is described as a newer-model, black or dark-coloured Nissan SUV, possibly a Murano or Rogue. There may be damage to the front, driver’s side corner near the headlight or on the hood.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
