Avon Maitland District School Board releases back-to-school health and safety protocols

The Avon Maitland District School Board released its health and safety protocols for the new school year yesterday.

The protocols go above and beyond what's being mandated by the Ministry of Education.

In a statement yesterday, the board's communications manager says they were advised to follow additional precautions by Huron Perth Public Health and "that advice is reflected in [the] plan."

That includes strongly encouraging kindergarten students to wear masks, having students wear masks outdoors where distancing between cohorts is not maintained, and discouraging non-essential visitors.

Links to the Avon Maitland District School Board's health and safety protocols and Huron Perth Public Health's advice on a safe return to school are below.
