UPDATE: Roads beginning to reopen after police evacuate area near severed gas line

**Updated as of 4:44 p.m., September 2nd, 2021**

South Bruce OPP had to temporarily evacuate people in the vicinity of a severed gas line that was struck by a vehicle.

Police confirmed on Twitter that officers and emergency crews were evacuating the area of Bruce Road 4, Bruce Road 19, Durham Street East, and George Street in Walkerton after a car hit and broke a gas line. There are no reports of injuries. Police confirmed shortly after the initial tweet that the situation was quickly contained by crews and roads are beginning to reopen.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
