This long weekend, area Police Services joined together to send a strong message that impaired driving will not be tolerated in our communities.

The Owen Sound Police in partnership with the South Bruce OPP, Saugeen Shores Police, Hanover Police and the West Grey Police Services, combined their efforts for a large-scale traffic initiative.

During this Joint Forces Operation several RIDE checks were conducted Saturday evening throughout the city.

Approximately 700 motorists were stopped and their level of sobriety checked. A total of 8 roadside screening device tests were conducted.

Owen Sound Police are pleased to report that of the 700 drivers checked, there were no charges laid for impaired driving.
