SSPS respond to person in distress

Saturday, at around 10:45am Saugeen Shores Police, EMS and Fire we’re dispatched to the Southampton Harbour to assist the OPP with a person in distress.

Police want to thank the community members who upon hearing calls for help ran to the person’s aid prior to police arrival and were able to get that person safely back to land.

Police say without their speedy response, this incident could have had a tragic outcome.

Unfortunately the family dog who was also in the water is still unaccounted for. Mac is a 12 year old black lab. If located please contact police, as the family would like closure.

For anyone who witnessed this incident or responded, Victim Services is available if you need to talk 1-866-376-9852
