Grey Gables revitalization on hold

A new 128-bed Grey Gables in Markdale is now officially on hold following county council's meeting on Thursday.

Council confirmed minutes from its meeting on August 26th, which officially passed a vote from that meeting to put a hold on the project.

The move comes after consultants confirmed that a cost estimate of approximately $400,000 per bed is a best-case scenario based on all available information, which is close to 50 per cent higher than the projected cost of $280,000 per bed that was presented to council before it applied for provincial approval.

This decision does not impact future plans to build a new 128-bed Rockwood Terrace in the town of Durham.
