Police charge one person for assault with a weapon following incident in North Perth

Perth County OPP have charged a 23-year-old from Guelph with Assault with a Weapon following a recent incident in North Perth.

On September 6th just after 10:30 p.m., police and Perth County EMS responded to a call on Perth Road 164 just north of Listowel after receiving a report of an injured person.

The injured person, who officers determined had been stabbed, was taken to local hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Police attempted to arrest a person at the scene, and during the arrest an officer was allegedly assaulted by the accused. The officer was not injured.

As a result, the accused has been charged with Assault with a Weapon and Assault with Intent To Resist Arrest.

The accused party has been held pending a bail hearing. Anyone with any information regarding this incident should contact Perth County OPP or Crime Stoppers.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
