Man charged after abandoned puppies found in Port Elgin

A man is facing charges after an investigation into puppies being abandoned around Port Elgin.

Saugeen Shores Police say they received numerous calls at different locations about newborn puppies that appeared to have been abandoned.

As a result of their investigation, police charged a 36-year-old Port Elgin man with eight counts of failing to provide care to animals. Police say all animals were seized and transported to safety, and are thanking community members who located and kept the puppies safe until the investigation was completed.

The puppies, and their mother, are safe.

The charges have yet to be proven in court.
