Varney man facing charges following gunshot incident

A man faces several charges following a recent report of gunshots near Varney.

On Tuesday, officers with the West Grey Police Services responded to a report of gunshots in Varney.

Upon arriving at the scene, officers say they found out that a potential suspect had fled the scene moments prior.

On Wednesday, WPS, the Criminal Investigations Branch, and the Uniformed Operations Unit executed a search warrant at a residence in Varney. During the search, the suspect was found hiding in an outbuilding.

A 35-year-old Varney man faces several charges: -Careless use of a firearm -Theft of a firearm -Unauthorized possession of a firearm (Two counts) -Possession of a weapon dangerous to the public -Possession of a firearm contrary to a probation order (Two counts)

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
