High levels of air pollution are possible this afternoon.

An AIR QUALITY WARNING is in place due to the possibility of deteriorating air quality. Hot and sunny conditions are expected to cause increasing ground-level ozone concentrations this afternoon. Moderate risk AQHI values are expected throughout the day with the potential of short-term high risk AQHI values in the afternoon.

When air pollution levels are high, everyone should limit time outdoors. Consider reducing or rescheduling outdoor sports, activities and events.

You may experience mild and common symptoms such as eye, nose and throat irritation, headaches or a mild cough. More serious but less common symptoms include wheezing, chest pains or severe cough. If you think you are having a medical emergency, seek immediate medical assistance.

People more likely to be impacted by outdoor air pollution, including people aged 65 and older, pregnant people, infants and young children, people with an existing illness or chronic health condition, and people who work outdoors, should reduce or reschedule strenuous activities outdoors and seek medical attention if experiencing symptoms.

Bruce Power is expanding a commitment to support local hospitals.
In 2019, Bruce Power made a $1.45 million commitment over five years to hospital foundations across Grey, Bruce and Huron counties.
On Tuesday, Bruce Power officials say the company is expanding that commitment to $1.7 million by 2023.
And it will add funding for the new Markdale Hospital through the Centre Grey Health Services Foundation along with the Kincardine and Community Health Care Foundation.
Since the company announced its commitment in 2019, Bruce Power has donated $954,000 across twelve hospital foundations in the region through its Corporate Social Responsibility program and supplier fundraising initiatives.
