Huron County OPP investigate suspicious fire in Goderich

Provincial police in Huron County are looking into the cause of a fire that destroyed a building in Goderich early last week.

According to OPP, emergency crews were called to a residence on Oxford Street at around 10:49 p.m. on October 11 after a fire broke out.

Firefighters with the Goderich Fire Department were able to get the fire out quickly however, the single-dwelling sustained extensive damage as a result.

No one was injured during the blaze as the building was unoccupied police say.

Fire investigators have since determined the fire to be an act of arson. A damage estimate has not yet been determined.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
