High levels of air pollution are possible this afternoon.

An AIR QUALITY WARNING is in place due to the possibility of deteriorating air quality. Hot and sunny conditions are expected to cause increasing ground-level ozone concentrations this afternoon. Moderate risk AQHI values are expected throughout the day with the potential of short-term high risk AQHI values in the afternoon.

When air pollution levels are high, everyone should limit time outdoors. Consider reducing or rescheduling outdoor sports, activities and events.

You may experience mild and common symptoms such as eye, nose and throat irritation, headaches or a mild cough. More serious but less common symptoms include wheezing, chest pains or severe cough. If you think you are having a medical emergency, seek immediate medical assistance.

People more likely to be impacted by outdoor air pollution, including people aged 65 and older, pregnant people, infants and young children, people with an existing illness or chronic health condition, and people who work outdoors, should reduce or reschedule strenuous activities outdoors and seek medical attention if experiencing symptoms.

Police have laid a murder charge in a death that happened in 1985.
On October 20, 2021, the Perth County Ontario Provincial Police, under the direction of the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch, and with the assistance of the Stratford Police Service, started an investigation into a death that occurred in Perth County.
The victim has been identified as Meghan Thompson, who was 25 days old at the time of her death.
Katherine Thompson, 62, of St Marys, has been charged with first degree murder.
The OPP state it is an ongoing investigation and no further details will be released at this time.
A publication ban is in effect for the proceedings.
