New business and sports park proposed in Port Elgin

Bruce County has moved ahead on plans for a proposed business park in Port Elgin.

The Planning and Development Committee approved an application to redesignate a portion of the former Lamont Pit land within Port Elgin from the Extractive Industrial designation to the Employment Exception designation

Highlights from the recent meeting reported the plan includes the creation of a 14.5 hectare Business Park.

The remainder of the 35.8 hectare property is to be developed as a sports field complex, with a significant portion of the lands remaining as environmentally protected lands.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
