Bruce County ready to pass budget bylaw

The Bruce County Corporate Services Committee has approved the 2022 budget in principle which includes a net increase of 4.80%

That could see adjustments due to variances in estimated new tax base growth to be assigned to transfers to reserves for transit and/or roads and bridges infrastructure.

The Corporate Services Committee has also approved an Infrastructure Renewal Capital Levy be instituted starting in 2022 at a 1.50% increase to the County levy.

This Infrastructure Renewal Capital Levy will be increased annually by an additional 1.50% and will be reviewed during each annual budget process.

A by-law, establishing the levy and corresponding tax rates and tax ratios, will be prepared for Council adoption at an upcoming meeting.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
