Community Foundation Grey-Bruce awards fall grants

Community Foundation Grey-Bruce awarded fall grants to 10 different local projects.

An official release states that "$246,633 has been distributed this fall through Capital and Community grants to local charities and non-profits supporting projects that address community wellbeing across the Grey Bruce region." Organizations that received grants include Home and Community Support Services, Hanover Community Players, the Wiarton Propeller Club, Alzheimer Grey-Bruce, Ripley Agricultural Society, and Women’s House Serving Bruce and Grey. Funding to create and expand community gardens in Meaford, Owen Sound, and Durham was also allocated.

The Big Sound, Strong Start, Junior Achievement and Meaford Singing Strings also received grants, alongside food insecurity programs like Community Closet and Pantry at South East Grey Community Health Centre. Hot food programs or meal classes through United Way of Bruce Grey, Safe ‘N Sound, Southwest Ontario Aboriginal Health Access Centre, and The Chesley Baptist Church Hot Meal Program were given grants, as well.

New military crosswalk in Sarnia to be unveiled

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
