Developers can submit proposals for municipal land in Wiarton

The Town of South Bruce Peninsula has issued a Request for Proposals from qualified developers for the Town-owned lands at Berford Street and Jenny Street in Wiarton.

The 22-acre site has been identified as the future location for a new Town Hall and Community Hub.

The vision for the parcels surrounding the Hub is still emerging and the Town will look at developer proposals and prioritize them according to affordability, density, and market demand.

Mayor Janice Jackson says the town intends to partner with a developer on a fiscally, socially, and environmentally responsible project which adds to the quality of life of its residents.

“The development will create a unique and vibrant mixed use urban district in Wiarton in close proximity to the amenities of the Community Hub” says Manager of Economic Development and Communications Danielle Edwards.

Council recently approved a new 5-year Economic Development Strategy, Strategic Priority 2 of the strategy is to Stimulate Residential Growth to Attract Permanent Residents and Self-Employed Professionals.

The proposal can be found through the Town’s Bids and Tenders page.
