Festive RIDE campaign begins

On Monday, members of local OPP detachments and volunteers from MADD shared on social media the kickoff of Project Red Ribbon and the Festive RIDE campaign.

Project Red Ribbon is MADD's annual awareness campaign to promote sober driving during the holiday season.

According to MADD's website, an average of 10 federal criminal charges and provincial short-term licence suspensions are laid for alcohol or drug-impaired driving in Canada every hour.

On the policing side, the strategy of the Festive RIDE campaign is to take alcohol and drug-impaired drivers off the roads.
