Brian Johnston takes over the position following the departure of Phil Eagleson, who has become the new fire chief for the City of Owen Sound.
Johnston has 41 years of experience in the fire service, starting with the Southampton Fire Department in 1980.
In a release, Mayor Luke Charbonneau says it was an easy decision to appoint Johnston to the position, and thanks him for his commitment to the organization.
