New COVID-19 cases reported in Midwestern Ontario

The Grey Bruce Health unit added one new case of COVID-19 Wednesday. There are 32 active cases. Two residents are currently hospitalized with the virus.

Huron Perth Public Health added 19 new cases. Three in St. Marys, five in Ashfield-Colborne-Wawanosh, five in Perth East, and six in Stratford. There are 55 active cases. Two people are hospitalized with the virus.

Wellington Dufferin Guelph Public Health added 11 new cases Wednesday, including six in Wellington County. There are 29 active cases in Wellington. One resident is currently hospitalized with the virus.

Another 454 cases of COVID-19 are reported in Ontario today, along with nine new deaths from the virus. The government says 243 COVID-19 patients are in hospital right now, and 136 are in intensive care units.

The province says 88.5 percent of residents 12 and older have received one dose of a COVID-19 shot, and 85.2 percent have had two.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
