The Municipality of Kincardine could soon get approval to go ahead with upgrades at two intersections along Highway 21.
According to a release, the Ontario Ministry of Transportation has retained the services of Stantec Consulting Ltd. to complete the Detailed Design and Class Environmental Assessment study for Highway 21 intersection improvements in Kincardine. Those improvements are specifically targeted toward the intersections of Highway 21 and Kincardine Avenue, and Highway 21 and Russell Street. Upgrades at the intersections if the project is approved will include new traffic signals and lights, drainage improvements and pavement resurfacing, among others listed in the release from the municipality. Construction timing is subject to funding approvals.

The proposed improvements for each intersection are as follows:
Highway 21 and Kincardine Avenue: • New traffic signals • New illumination • Drainage improvements • Pavement resurfacing • Addition of left turn lane in the eastbound and westbound directions on Kincardine Avenue
Highway 21 and Russell Street: • New traffic signals • New illumination • Drainage improvements • Pavement resurfacing • Addition of left turn lane. northbound direction on Hwy 21 • Addition of a future left turn lane, southbound direction on Hwy 21 • Addition of a future right turn lane, northbound direction on Hwy 21 • Addition of left turn lane, eastbound direction on Russell St • Addition of new east leg up to MTO ROW, to accommodate a future development
