Public offender arrested by police

The Hanover Police Service have arrested and charged a known public offender.

In a release, Hanover Police Service says on November 9th, following an investigation and a foot chase of a man in the downtown core of Hanover, a man has been charged with numerous criminal offences that include multiple counts of break-and-enter, possession of stolen property and theft. As a result of the arrest and a subsequent search warrant, police closed almost 30 different cases that followed a spike in break-and-enter thefts this past summer from local businesses, residences and vehicles.

The 48-year-old accused recently relocated to Hanover from the Kitchener region. He has been released from custody on strict conditions and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice at Walkerton next month.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
