Christmas Season begins in St. Marys this week

The Christmas season arrives in St. Marys on Friday, November 19, 2021. The BIA is again expanding its Merchants Open House into three days of festive events and shopping promotions in the downtown.

The lighting of the Winter Lights display at Milt Dunnell Field will be live streamed on the Town’s Facebook page at 7:00 p.m.  On Saturday, November 27 Santa Claus will arrive in St. Marys via the Kinsmen Santa Claus parade.which starts at the Pyramid Recreation Centre at 7:00 p.m

The parade route will be extended to provide more room for spectators. Participants on floats must wear masks, and no candy or swag may be handed out to spectators. Spectators are asked to socially distance and mask if they cannot.

The parade will go north on James Street, pass through the downtown, then turn south onto Water Street. The parade will then turn east onto Park Street to return to the Pyramid Centre. Santa Claus will not stop at Milt Dunnell Field. Local variety show Front Porch Show will offer parade coverage for at-home viewing.

Additionally, participants on floats must wear masks, and no candy or swag may be handed out to spectators. Spectators are asked to socially distance and mask if they cannot. The Holiday Home Tour returns after a successful inaugural year in 2020. The map launches on Monday, November 29 on the free Driftscape app and as a downloadable PDF on the Town’s website. St. Marys will again end the year with a bang on Friday, December 31 with the Rotary Club of St. Marys’ New Year’s Eve fireworks from the Grand Trunk Trestle at 6:00 p.m.

All events are subject to change as per COVID-19 regulations.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
