New COVID-19 cases reported Wednesday in Midwestern Ontario

The Grey Bruce Health unit added 4 new cases of COVID-19 Tuesday, 2 in Owen Sound, 1 in Saugeen Shores, and 1 in Southgate. There are 17 active cases. One resident is currently hospitalized with the virus. 

Huron Perth Public Health added 12 new cases. Two people are hospitalized with the virus. 3 in Stratford, 3 in Perth East, 2 in North Perth, 2 in Huron East, 1 in South Huron, and 1 in Central Huron. There are 51 active cases. 4 residents are currently hospitalized with the virus. 

Wellington Dufferin Guelph Public Health added 12 new cases Tuesday, including 1 in Wellington County. There are 38 active cases in Wellington. Two residents are currently hospitalized with the virus.

Ontario is reporting 512 new cases of COVID-19 today and 12 virus-related deaths. The province says one of the people who died was under the age of 20.

Health Minister Christine Elliott says 310 of today's new cases are in people who are not fully vaccinated or whose vaccination status is unknown. There are 274 COVID-19 patients in hospital, and 133 of them are in ICUs.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
