New COVID-19 infections reported across the region

The Grey Bruce Health unit added 2 new cases of COVID-19 Thursday, 2 in Arran-Elderslie, and 1 in Grey Highlands. There are 30 active cases. One resident is currently hospitalized with the virus. 

Huron Perth Public Health added 7 new cases. 2 are located in Stratford, 2 in Central Huron, and 1 each in Huron East, South Huron, and North Perth.  There are 51 active cases. 4 residents are currently hospitalized with the virus. 

Wellington Dufferin Guelph Public Health added 11 new cases Thursday, including 5 in Wellington County. There are 35 active cases in Wellington. 3 residents are currently hospitalized with the virus.

Ontario is recording its highest number of new daily COVID-19 cases since September today. The province reported 711 new infections -- 397 of which it says are in unvaccinated people or people whose immunization status isn't known. There are also five more deaths due to COVID-19. Provincial data show 129 patients are in intensive care with COVID-related critical illness, including 78 people on ventilators.

New military crosswalk in Sarnia to be unveiled

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
