New COVID-19 cases reported across the region

The Grey Bruce Health unit added one new case of COVID-19 Friday, located in Southgate. There are 28 active cases. One resident is currently hospitalized with the virus. 

Huron Perth Public Health added nine new cases. Four are in West Perth, two in South Huron, and one each in St Marys, Bluewater, and Goderich. There are 45 active cases. Two residents are currently hospitalized with the virus. 

Wellington Dufferin Guelph Public Health added 10 new cases Friday, including four in Wellington County. There are 35 active cases in Wellington. Three residents are currently hospitalized with the virus.

Ontario is inching closer to 800 new daily cases of COVID-19, recording 793 today. That's the highest number of new infections since mid-September.

The province is also reporting four new deaths from the virus, though it says that only includes those that happened in the last month. Provincial data show almost 89 per cent of Ontarians 12 and older have received one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine and nearly 86 per cent have two.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
