Slight increase in COVID-19 cases locally

The Grey Bruce Health unit added no new cases of COVID-19 Tuesday. There are 19 active cases. One resident is currently hospitalized with the virus. 

Huron Perth Public Health added three new cases, two in North Perth, and one in West Perth. There are 33 active cases. Two residents are currently hospitalized with the virus. 

Wellington Dufferin Guelph Public Health added 3 new cases Tuesday, including one in Wellington County. There are 29 active cases in Wellington. One resident is currently hospitalized with the virus.

Ontario is logging 613 new COVID-19 cases and nine virus-related deaths today. Of the new cases, Health Minister Christine Elliott says 318 are in people who are not fully vaccinated and 29 are in people with an unknown vaccination status. There are currently 134 people in ICU due to the virus.

To date, 86 per cent of residents aged 12 and older have received two doses of a COVID-19 vaccine and 89 per cent have at least one shot.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
