Uptick in COVID-19 cases across the region

The Grey Bruce Health unit added 10 new cases of COVID-19 Thursday, three in Chatsworth, three in Grey Highlands, two in Southgate, one in Hanover, and one in Owen Sound. There are 31 active cases. One resident is currently hospitalized with the virus. 

Huron Perth Public Health added 16 new cases, 12 of which are located in North Perth, and one case each in Perth East, Howick, Goderich, and Bluewater. There are 43 active cases. Three residents are currently hospitalized with the virus. 

Wellington Dufferin Guelph Public Health added nine new cases Thursday, including one in Wellington County. There are 20 active cases in Wellington. Three residents are currently hospitalized with the virus.

Ontario is reporting five new deaths from COVID-19 and 748 new cases of the disease. Health Minister Christine Elliott says 375 of the new cases are in unvaccinated people. There were 137 patients in intensive care with COVID-related critical illness including 87 people on ventilators.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
