Crash closes roadway east of Arthur

A crash has closed a roadway east of Arthur this morning.

Wellington County OPP confirmed on Twitter that Highway 109 just east of Arthur is closed following a crash. Police say a driver of a car suffered minor injuries after crashing into a large spool on the roadway, and police are describing the incident as an insecure load falling on the roadway. A CKNX listener says a transport truck is in a ditch on the detour that police are sending drivers, though it's unknown if that is related to the crash that has closed Highway 109. Investigators are determining the cause of the crash.

Drivers should avoid the area for now. More details as they are made available by police. Anyone who may have witnessed the crash is encouraged to contact Wellington County OPP or Crime Stoppers.
