New COVID-19 cases reported in Midwestern Ontario

The Grey Bruce Health unit added 10 new cases of COVID-19 Friday, five in Hanover, three in Kincardine, one in Arran-Elderslie, and one in Chatsworth. There are 27 active cases. One resident is currently hospitalized with the virus. 

Huron Perth Public Health added nine new cases, five in North Perth, two in Perth East, and two in Stratford. There are 48 active cases. Three residents are currently hospitalized with the virus. 

Wellington Dufferin Guelph Public Health added 17 new cases Friday, including seven in Wellington County. There are 21 active cases in Wellington. Three residents are currently hospitalized with the virus.

Ontario is reporting 927 new COVID-19 cases today. Five more people have died from the virus.

Health Minister Christine Elliott says more than half the new cases are in people who aren't fully vaccinated. There were 140 people in intensive care due to COVID-19.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
