Over 20 new COVID-19 cases in Midwestern Ontario Thursday

The Grey Bruce Health Unit added nine new cases of COVID-19 Thursday, three in Chatsworth, two in The Blue Mountains, and one each in Hanover, Kincardine, Meaford, and Southgate. There are 48 active cases and two residents are hospitalized in Grey Bruce due COVID-19.

Huron Perth Public Health added twelve new cases Thursday, nine North Perth, and one each in South Huron, Huron East and Howick. There are 69 active cases. Five residents are in hospital with the virus.

Public health officials reported two new cases in Wellington County. There are four active cases in Minto, five in Wellington North, and four in Mapleton. Wellington Dufferin Guelph Public health noted one resident is in intensive care with the virus.

Ontario is reporting 959 new COVID-19 cases and eight deaths from the virus.  469 new cases are in people not fully vaccinated against COVID-19. Currently almost all cases in the province are the Delta variant.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
