West Grey makes hours of operation changes at local landfills

West Grey Council has made changes at local landfill sites regarding hours of operation.

In a release, the municipality says the changes come after the responses collected from a month-long community survey. As a result of that, the Durham landfill hours have been changed to Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. There will be no landfill service on Thursdays. At the Normanby landfill, a seasonal closure will remain in effect, with a reopening in May. Staff will report back on operational options prior to the reopening. Finally, the Bentinck landfill will remain open on Wednesdays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturdays 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

West Grey Council says in the release that these changes are anticipated to result in cost savings while staff investigate additional operational options for the three landfill sites.
